So today I am going to share my ongoing review of the Veggetti, which is this veggie pasta from the “As-Seen-On-TV” line of products. I’ve been wanting to try veggie pasta because it sounds incredibly appealing: I can eat vegetables as pasta??
On top of that, the presentation is very visually appealing…..
So in short, I will summarize my Veggetti experience as being one of trial-and-error. My first batch (shown above) was sautéed because the package suggested it. “I have never sautéed pasta before,” I thought. “Maybe I’ll give it a try!”
I diced up some tomatoes, fresh basil and oregano, and made a literal plate full of veggies. (not even a trace of pasta sauce here!)
However, my beautiful plate of vegetables was not as delectable as I had hoped. The zucchini was not cooked enough and was very al dente.
For this reason, I tried to boil my next batch of zucchini pasta a day later. However, I strongly suggest waiting for the zucchini go boil, as it really should only be cooked for 3-4 minutes that way. I multi-tasked…and ended up with a reduced pile of soggy zucchini pasta. Drat!
I have not given up on my quest to cook and enjoy veggie pasta. The Veggetti does a great job- it’s affordable to purchase, it’s dishwasher safe, and it does create great strands of noodles. It seems to be obvious, now, that the problem is not so much the machine, but the pasta maker herself. Heh heh. I will perfect this dish and share with you when I do!
In peace and health- xo!
