6 weeks post-op!

I’m pleased to show my progress so far as I exceed the 6-week post-op mark. I went to my orthodontist this week for the first time since my surgery and everyone was so excited to see me. I asked my orthodontist to give me an estimate as to how much longer I’ll have my braces on and, unfortunately, she said I would have them for another 6-12 months. For some reason, I was really hoping that she would say I would be done in 3 months’ time! It disappointed me for the rest of the day, but I realize that I signed up for an 18-24 month treatment plan, which is exactly what I’m following. I’m on schedule, and I need to respect that.

I did, however, get rubber bands to begin the “polishing” stage of my orthodontic work. They were incredibly painful on the day I first started wearing them, but now I’ve grown accustomed to the constant, dull aching that comes with them. It’s all temporary, it’s all temporary….

  1. Hello! I’m new to your blog and saw that you are from Pittsburgh (so am I)! I just had jaw surgery about a month ago and was curious who your surgeon was and if you liked him (or her). You look great, btw! I can’t wait until I’m 6 weeks post-op!
