Braces Frustrations

It has been two weeks since my adult braces have graced my mouth with their presence. My teeth were not very cooperative in the first week- a banana was a little too much for me, a strawberry was impossible- but I am slowly progressing. But “slowly” must be the operative word here. I cannot tell you how frustrating eating with these braces are! My soreness is gone, but many things still seem out of reach.

Tonight's snack: gluten-free granola trail mix....swimming in almond milk in order to soften everything in sight. And yes, that is a Barney bowl.

It feels as if my teeth are constantly moving right now, which could definitely be the case, but each bite feels detrimental to the braces and the teeth themselves. I am grateful that my teeth seem to be cooperating with the braces, but I long for the days without them….

On a humorous note, I have found my niche! Ever since I started P90X and began a video blog on YouTube, the comments on my adult braces have skyrocketed. Ha ha ha. People actually private message me and ask me advice about if they should begin the same orthodontic journey that I have. In a way, it encourages me that I help people: for some reason, my decision to go through with adult braces has inspired people! I only hope that it continues to do so.

But, in the meantime, I will continue to push through these braces. I suppose it’s applesauce or Chobani yogurt for my snack….
