Greek Yogurt, a Trial and Error

Greek Yogurt seems to be all the rage right now, and for good reason: its increased protein makes for a hearty little snack! However, I really did not like Greek yogurt. I tried Fage yogurt and could not stand the thick consistency (and the fact that it tasted like I was eating sour cream straight). I tried another Greek yogurt and, alas, I still did not like the texture and taste.

Until today.

Yoplait's Coconut Greek Yogurt

Yoplait’s Coconut Greek Yogurt

I was at the grocery store this morning and saw the endless options of Greek yogurt and remembered that my aunt raved about Yoplait’s Coconut Greek Yogurt. “Well, I guess I’ll try it just one more time,” I thought. And I love this yogurt!! It’s just sweet enough, the texture is smooth, there is almost no hint of Greek yogurt bitterness, and there are small pieces of shredded coconut in the yogurt (thus adding to the texture in a wonderful way). If you are looking to give Greek yogurt a try again and like coconut, then this is the one for you.

Do you like Greek yogurt? If so, what kind is your favorite? Would you give this yogurt a try?

I saw this at Whole Foods yesterday. I almost tried it, but it has added sugar and while I am on my elimination portion of this diet, thought I would pass it up for now. If it turns out that dairy is a problem for me, but not sugar, it will be on the list to taste-test!

  2. I really like Chobani brand for their flavors. But I think I have the opposite problem with yogurt than you do, I can’t stand thin, non-Greek style yogurt! When I make my own yogurt at home I usually strain it until it’s almost as thick as whipped cream cheese.

  3. I do love Greek yogurt but not plain, I always add fruit, honey and granola. I do love coconut and there’s this pricy brand called Liberte that makes an awesome one, but I’ll definitely give this yoplait a shot!
